When using the resistance calculator, please note: The resistance of a wire is determined by the specific resistance of the material and the diameter. Knowing any two of the three parameters, one can calculate the third. The resistance calculator is a utility that provides the unknown based on the two known values. For example, if in the design process the diameter and resistance in ohms/foot is known but the type of material is not defined, the resistance calculator can be used to define the specific resistance needed. Then one can evaluate various materials with a similar specific resistance for use in the application.
